When spring is in the air, we all know that our students sometimes require that “little bit extra” to stay engaged.  Designing and using spring themed literacy centers or activities is one great way to engage them during this time of year.

I designed and used several different spring centers with my first graders. We used a combination between workshop and a guided reading/ station type approach, so these stations came in handy. If you’re not using stations or centers, there are still tons of times activities like these can come in handy. You can use them for early finishers, as warm ups, during special activity times, or even as whole group lesson focus.
